FINAL:

Context:
This week I edited a video about Nipper, using the footage provided to me to create a short documentary.

Research:
I chose to use Adobe Premier Pro to edit the video as it is industry-standard software and is most suitable for this type of project.
For the story research, I looked into the history of nipper the dog, HMV, EMI & The area surrounding them here in Hayes.
For stylistic research, I watched a few other short documentaries based on similar things to give me ideas on how to edit them and inspire me. (Links can be found at the bottom of this page)

Practical:
For the edit, I Used Premier Pro as its industry standard and more than capable of doing what I need it to do.
I Was provided with lots of footage and then had to cut it down to create the short documentary following the script, I Did 2 versions of the edit with the first one being checked by a student to receive some feedback on how I could improve it.

This image shows the timeline which is where I edit the video using the tools next to it.

The timeline has the video and audio on it, the videos are on separate tracks to allow for me to do J & L Cuts creating a smoother transition and overall better-looking video.

I Used tools such as the Razor tool to chop footage down to remove unneeded moments. I also used the Track Select Forward Tool to move the timeline forward to add more footage where it was necessary. I also used Auditon to edit the Voice of the presenter to remove some of the background noise that was in the original footage.

Once I had finished editing I used Adobe Media Encoder to export my video into an .MP4 Using the H.264 Format in 1080P, As this is high quality, low file size and suitable for Online use.

This image shows how my screen looks right before I export it with the export & video quality settings, where I want it saved and how it should export.

I Did 2 edits of the video, one as a draft which I received feedback from other students & staff that I could then use to improve it and create a final better version.

Evaluation:
WWW: The final video is professional and features a mix of both the main video, B-Roll & Images.
EBI: The Audio On the main voice sounds slightly underwater due to the Processing, if I had more time I would re-do this to allow for it to sound cleaner.
WWW: The overall cuts and feel of the video work well.
EBI: If I had properly ducked the music so it’s quieter when he was talking then gets louder when it’s just B-Roll to give a more professional look and sound.
