YEAR 13
fmp – PROBLEM SOLVING
Problems
PROBLEM: Myriad often experiences issues with uploads, it may happen where i am unable to upload links more than a minute.
SOLUTION: I Would have to restart the RES And then try again recording the link
PROBLEM: The Studio I Use may be out of order as there have been issues with many of them across the building.
SOLUTION: I Will sort a backup USB Mic or record ahead in advance in another location.
PROBLEM: Train Issues & Industrial Action
SOLUTION: There were a few times when my lessons were cancelled or I was unable to get into school because of the industrial action with teachers and the train line. I worked from home to try to remain productive during this inconvenience.
PROBLEM: Focusing and Staying On Track
SOLUTION: The second point that I made on this page was that I procrastinate a lot and can be distracted, causing my work to suffer. With research being such an important chunk of my FMP, I made a list breaking down what to research/do in the 4 sections (Technical, Story, Stylistic and Target Audience/Primary Research.) For some weeks I would make a separate checklist for what I wanted to accomplish that week. Using checklists makes me feel like I was actually getting work done and was also a great way to help keep me motivated.
Problems I Did Face
This Only Has 3-4 of the problems I faced during this project, for more see my weekly reflective logs
PROBLEM: The Recording cut out whilst i was speaking however i didn’t know till after i had recorded that link
SOLUTION: I Deleted the link, restarted the software and ran a speed test to check everything was ok and as it should be. Once i had done that and confirmed I went back onto the system to record and the rest were all fine. This indicated to me that there was probably a network dropout issue during the upload.
PROBLEM: The local news site where i get my content from was down.
SOLUTION: I used Facebook with lots of the what’s on groups & the internal prep sheet to help me get more local content and then have used them to go alongside my normal content.
PROBLEM: My Personal WordPress Server (MNHMedisUK) Crashed Causing me to not be able to do my log for that day and for my site to be offline/ go down
SOLUTION: Using the days before backup (stored on another server!) I Reset it before re-uploading the files and that brought it back. I Have now also sorted redundancy and server protection to reduce anything like it happening again. The backups are now stored in 2 locations (One on the server but is separate to the site, and the other is on my OneDrive) as well to ensure that I always have a daily copy.
