The Finished Promo
Context:
This week I have created a music promo about Dua Lipa for Youth’s Choice which are a radio station for 14-19-year-olds.
Research:
I chose to use Adobe Audition to create it as it is industry-standard software and is most suitable for this type of project.
This project tells the story of Dua’s life and her music history and how she got to where she is today. I Used sites like Wikipedia and fandom to find out information about her to help build the story and to allow me to know what songs and hooks to use and when.
I Have styled it around the youth’s choice audience as I fit in with that demographic and understand the group and what they want to consume, for style ideas I listend to promos I was able to find online for ideas.
Practical:
I Used tools like the cut tool and used effects to process the VO To make it stand out and pop a little bit more. These effects include Multiband compressor, Dynamic processing and also then normalised out to ensure a similar level throughout. The voice and music have been made in this promo so that there is always something and it keeps flowing. To ensure the levels are similar I ducked tracks and reduced the overall track level. I also cut the song down to o be longer intro than the hook so I had to cut it down and remove lots of the other parts of the song. At the end i ran it through the match loudness to ensure that the sound is alot smoother and reduces its peaks and troughs
Evaluation:
In the end, I’m happy with how it sounds and overall the “feel” of it. Had I spent more time on it I could have made it tighter and potentially remove the 2 FX I Had to add to keep it flowing but I think these work and suit it.
In the end, I exported the project as a WAV File which is large so the anchor took a while to upload this file I decided to go back to audtion and re-export it as an MP3 File which uploaded instantly. This is because these files are smaller so will save space on my laptop and are usually easier to upload to Anchor and be used on other platforms.
